A clinical psychologist licensed in Alaska, Dr. Jensen moved to Scottsdale in 2008, and found StarShine within a month. In 1971 while obtaining a Masters in Counseling at San Diego State, he became associated with the Human Development Training Institute. HDTI then had a ground-breaking program, a pioneer approach to enabling teachers to meet students’ needs in awareness, mastery, and social interaction. The program was especially successful at a goal even now not understood in much of US education—how to meet children’s needs from kindergarten onward simply to feel better about themselves, their learning, and their relationships.

In the early seventies, Dr. Jensen traveled the country with other consultants doing teacher training for HDTI, and then focused his Ph.D. research with Union Institute on the impact of classroom methods. Licensed in Alaska as a psychologist in 1977, he has worked in clinic and private practice, taught college courses, spoken in numerous public settings, was an elected Assemblyman in Juneau, Alaska, for five years, and has written six books. Two of them concern educational change. The latest, The Silver Bullet Easy Learning System: How to Change Classrooms Fast and Energize Students for Success, was published in 2008 by Xlibris. He divides his time between the two campuses and assisting staff in developing the StarShine model.
